Issue description
Checkerboard layer render darker that it should when using alpha less than zero.

Steps to reproduce this issue
  1. Create a Checkerboard layer
  2. Create a Circle layer
  3. Select both layers and link the color and then the amount parameters.
  4. Set the amount to something lower than 1.0
  5. Go to Setup>Render tab and enable and disable alternatively the Cairo render using the apply button.

You'll notice that the color of the circle doesn't change and the color of the checkerboard is different in Cairo.
