“...That was the original idea from day one - the elimination of the tweening process. But it is certainly not the only feature of Synfig that makes it unique. In addition to eliminating the tweening process, I also wanted Synfig to be used for pretty much every part of production except story-boarding and editing.”

So, we have released 0.64.2, but the ground is still trembling under our feet. I can hear the roar of the crowd, eagerly waiting for the real new version with all the features we have in development tree - Single-Window UI, Cut-out Tools, Bones, Sound and others. I can hear that roar and...Well, probably I have gone too far with an epic note here. ^__^"
Anyway! We perfectly understand the anticipation, so this is what we are going to concentrate on - polishing the existing features and bringing the shiny new release to you. The new version is going to be 1.0, by the way.
This month we've got Ivan Mahonin on board, and I hope we will also have him in November. Right now he is fighting evil bugs and some of them are really tough ones. Meanwhile I am busy with packaging infrastructure to deliver you the testing builds with Sound Layer and New Gtk3-powered UI features.
On the other hand, we couldn't resist the temptation to have a sit and discuss the future of Synfig beyond 1.0. We also wanted to reveal this process to the public, so we have recoded the discussion to video.
Unfortunately, for most of our audience it will not have much meaning, because the discussion goes in Russian. But it still might be interesting if you want to look at the general tune and atmosphere.
By posting this video here, I also have a hidden hope that we could find some brave volunteer from Russian community, who could transcribe the video to subtitles (using the Amara.org service, for example), which would open the possibility to translate the spoken text for our non-Russian audience. Who knows?
Well, that's all my thoughts for today, stay tuned!
