“...That was the original idea from day one - the elimination of the tweening process. But it is certainly not the only feature of Synfig that makes it unique. In addition to eliminating the tweening process, I also wanted Synfig to be used for pretty much every part of production except story-boarding and editing.”

You probably aware that thanks to Shuttleworth Foundation grant, since the 1st of August we have hired a developer (Ivan Mahonin), who works on Synfig code for full-time. It is the first time in Synfig's history (since it was open-sourced) when we have a dedicated full-time developer, and its already have a visible impact - you can track our progress by reading my weekly reports.
We have enough money to fund Ivan's work until November 1st 2013, but our goal is to continue intensive development of Synfig as long as possible. That's why we have decided to start a fundraising campaign.
Notice, that it's not just a fundraising - it's a great chance to control the direction of Synfig development. Don't be distracted by the small funding goal - our plan is to run such small campaigns on regular basis so we can afford to pay our hired developer on monthly basis. If our campaigns will be successful, then it will help to bring stability in Synfig development and even expand our resources.
So, our goal is to establish sustainable and intensive development process. We hope you want that too.
